Linear alkylbenzene sulphonic acid can be neutralized with caustic soda (NaOH) to form sodium alkylbenzene sulphonate-an extensively applied anionic surfactant. It is a raw material for detergent industry characterized by detergency, foam, moisture, emulsion and dispersing. It can also be neutralized with slaked lime Ca(OH)2 to produce calcium alkylbenzene sulphonate, a high quality emulsifier for insecticide.
