The molecular formula of phosphorus trichloride is PCl3, molecular weight 137.5. When chlorine gas reacts with yellow phosphoruw, phosphorus trichloride is formed.
Use:
Phosphorus trichloride can be used to produce dipterex, phosphorus sulfochloride, phosphorus oxychloride, phosphorus acid, phosphorus ester. It can also be used as chlorinating agent, eatalyst and solvent etc.
